How Can I Have a Cold When it is so Nice Out

Figures, the Wx is gorgeous and I have a cold. That's not going to stop me from grilling up a bunch of bratwurst, no way. The time I am too sick to pick up my spatula is the time to dig the hole 'cause I am toast.

I am of the opinion that my son-in-law may be a communist. I arrived at this conclusion after he told me he didn't like bratwurst, which is funny in that he has lived in Germany. If you don't eat your bratwurst in Germany they send you to a special camp and forget about you. Not quite so harsh in Wisconsin, they just won't let you, probably refer you to our FIB neighbor to the South, Illafrikkinoise. Most FIBS wouldn't know a bratwurst if it bit them in the ass. FIB stands for "Foolish Illinois Boys," except the F and the B are usually more profane.

Well hope you all had a great cold free weekend!!

Fish

I started out with a Betta my wife had brought home and I named Freddy. About six Freddies later, I now have a 10Gallon aquarium that is home to Freddy number 7, two catfish, and two plocostomous. The fish don't ride for free, the bottom feeders are in there to clean the tank as well as amuse me. Rough deal, but there you have it. The driving force behind my sudden intrest in fish (lookin' at fish vice eatin' fish anyway) is my grandson. He likes to see the "fishies," and who am I to disappoint him??

Frustration

Haven't really been up to much as evidenced by my lack of posting. Seems as though everything at work has been at big fight, my son is off in Afcrapistan again, and the country is till in a mess. Though there is little or nothing I can do about any of it, I find myself under a lot of stress and not my usual fat jolly self. I hate being this way, but there's not much for it I am afraid.

Hopefully things will ease up a bit int he coming weeks and I can snap out of this funk. Meanwhile I have to come up with something a bit more upbeat to post...

Air Show

I had hoped to get some photos at the Air Show on base - normally the commander opens the flight line for the base population the day prior to the official show, but I couldn't get any straight answers as to whether the lines was open or not. Not wanting to chance being thrown to the pavement by a couple burly Security Policemen, I decided it was best not to chance it, but did manage to snap a rather poor picture of a couple P-51s practicing their part of the show.

I figure I didn't miss much as the planes I did see parked on the ramp were the same ones they had last year, with the exception of the F-22. I do not feel like braving the crowds that will be out there today and tomorrow so maybe next year. I do want to venture down to the Pima County Air Museum, but seems I am anchored to Tiny House so don't know when I will ever get down there.

Sunday, Sunday...

Winding down from the weekend and Tiny House was packed to the gills. Ok, Tiny House doesn't really have gills, but it was full. Everyone was out to celebrate the grandson's birthday. Hard to believe the li'l rascal is already two. I can already see signs of my sense of humor, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

Got corned beef in the pressure cooker, we are celebrating St Pat's early. I have some Irish from moms side so figure I am entitled. You won't see me marching for Irish rights because first and foremost I am an American. Like it or not. This is the kind of thing I have been yakking about. Celebrate your heritage, share it with your kids, but if you are a citizen of the US always remember no matter what your extraction you are an American. Nice to be able to have a side order of corned beef with your freedom.

51 Days or So; Lied to Again

Well 51 days in the Whitehouse and no real signs that much of anything has changed. I realize it is going to take some time, but from "Porkulus II: Land of Earmarks," to what appears very much like signing statements in some of his comments Osama bin Obama, First African American president doesn't appear any more capable than his white counterparts. Maybe he should have tried the pro golf circuit. To be fair, there is no way one man is going to affect much change on that Turdpile we call Washington D.C.. Even the city itself is a disgrace, kind of a microcosm of the pool of ooze it houses on capitol hill. I've said it before, the Brits did us a favor burning the shithole down, too bad the politicians weren't still in town when they set the fires. Maybe we could invite them back. We could burn down the Canadian Parliament like we did to set off the first Washington conflagration, there are more than a few Canadians that might thank us. I don't think it would get much of a rise out of the Brits these days however, they are far too busy dressing up in women's clothing and beating the shit out of the French in the streets after a soccer game.

So here we are, no firm plan in place to fix the economy, still in that shit heap Afuckistan when we should have our troops on the Mexican border, and a treasury secretary that resembles a cartoon rat. Not a good sign. Kind of fitting for a man with roots in Kenya to lead us down the road to Third Worldship.

The End o' Weeks

Off into the dark night to the hell called work, but the 69th seal has been broken and it is almost weekend for Phos. People always talk about the End of Days, I prefer the End of Weeks. Don't get me wrong the job is ok (in these times any job is a good one) but Phos be likin' the time off. Especially wiht a visit from the kids/grandkid/grandpuppies. Always a hoot, an excuse to cook way too much food, laugh too much, and have the Tiny House filled to capacity. Can't beat that!!

Weekend? How do you tell?

Yep the days are all kind of blending into each other so it is tough to tell what day it is. Fun meter is off-scale in the negative. I'm even avoiding the news, watching our first African American president trying to bail out the post iceberg Titanic with a kid's sand pail just depresses me. He seems to have the same attitude that many shoppers have - you save money by buying shit on sale. Bad enough I still have to Look at Hagary Clinton because she is Defectretary of State. My only hop eis that when she visits Iran to have tea with the insane asshole that runs the place he'll cut her fucking head off and leave the carcass on the side of the road. Bill shouldn't have trouble finding a replacement out of the latest pool of interns.

And is it just me or does Geithner, the secretary of the treasury, look like a cartoon rat? There goes Obama typecasting again. Geithner's big problme is finding someone to help him for the list of economic geniuses that have turned otu to be total thieves and scoundrels. There was a reason that speculators were looked down upon in the early years of our great country.

Anyway, if you don't give a shit, or just came by to say hello, here's an amusing picture...

Million Man March

Remember Rev Al's Million Man March where a million black folk were to march on Washington to show their discontent? Even if Sharpton's parade would have hit a million I wouldn't have been impressed. We have marches in Phoenix, largely Hispanic and LA Raza types in protest of immigration sweeps by the Sheriff. I am unimpressed. What would impress me is a Million American March, or Americans marching in protest to the AZ capitol. Imagine a million drooling mouth breathers finally shutting off the devil be damned World Wide Wrestling shit, the NASCAR crap, and walking up to the capitol building to let their skunk of a representative know just how they feel. Yeah, and maybe tip over a few police cars and burn down the Fed while they are at it.

Then I'd be impressed.

Red Beans and Rice

Cooking up a bunch of red beans, though I probably have taken some liberties with the original recipe. Ok, I am winging it, but doesn't seem to be much to it, just lob in some beans, hot pepper sauce and some pig parts and your are off to the races. I chose hocks for the pig part component. I be loving me some hocks. There are others in the house that aren't into scrap animal parts but the fun factor of them discovering some pig trotters in the refrigerator far outweighs any complaining on their part.

Did smoke some peppers last night. Some will go into refried beans, the others, Poblanos, will be used for Rellenos. Got to love the Southwest, it is like pepper heaven.

Best check the stove, you all have a great rest of the weekend.
