Phos's Very Windy Dusty Day

Cold front moving through and with it lots of wind and in the desert where there's wind, there's dust. The temps have plunged as well with cold Canadian air making its way down here. Talk about unwanted immigration! On the bright side we might get some rain - they already have snow up in Flagstaff.

Took the dogs to the pet lodge for a bath today (let those fools ruin their plumbing) and stopped at a small thrift shop nearby. I was amazed to see something I can honestly say I have never seen in a thrift shop before - a loom. The size and $750 dollar price tag kept me from loading it up in the car. I have always wanted to try weaving but I suspect starting on a smaller scale might be a better idea.

Not Just Another Pretty Face

I had the chance to tour Venice with a Belgian friend many years ago and came across this picture to prove once and for all Phos is not an uncultured oaf, merely a regular oaf. The city was beautiful, but the stench coming off the canals on this hot summer day was almost overpowering. The Eau de Venitia was worth putting up with to see all the beautiful buildings and walk back into the pages of time. It wasn't hard to imagine the city as the bustling center of business trade and wealth it once was.

Should be Sleeping

Kind of back to cat-napping now instead of sleeping all night. Might as well make the best of it!! I managed to capture the rare Siberian Chupacabra in it's natural environment - the bed. Notice the advanced nest building skills...

Domestic Man-Diva

On the bright side of being jobless I have been able to get a lot of things done around the house. Not as much as I'd like, but more than usual. General cleanup, a little home repair, and such. Fortunately the huskies are only too happy to supervise, right up until I pull the vacuum cleaner out, that is. Big Brave Yukon is pretty much afraid of everything, including dust mops, plastic bags, foot stools, and many, many other household conveniences. I have to admit to a bit of cruelty here, I like to rattle the handle of the vacuum cleaner once in a while just to watch him hit the ceiling. It is funny in a twisted sort of way.

The Wx is gorgeous - in the 80's. This is what I signed on for. It will get colder and even hit freezing (at night) later in the season. Still no sign of rain, however, and that is disconcerting. Though this is a desert some rain does fall and every drop is precious.

Hope you all are having a great day!!

Still Breathing

So I have that going for me, which is nice. Trying to work towards becoming a teacher, but dealing with the gov't makes for slow going. Lots of squares to fill and meanwhile the AZ State legislature has declared all out war on teachers. AZ has been rated the stupidest state, even beating out Mississippi, which is really saying something, so it seems ill advised to continue to undercut the teachers. Odd that the same folks that brought AZ to financial ruin are now the ones trying to plug the leak in the dike. Hanging is too good for them.

Some good news, Nanuk is back and to tell the truth wry wit seasoned with a dash of Laphroaig is always welcome.

Goodby Brioche

Dogs have a way of weaving themselves into our hearts, making it tough to say goodbye. Condolences from the Tiny House, Jin...
