The Boob Tube

The quality of television programming is about to bottom out – looks as though I am going to be doing a live spot cooking a recipe I sent in to the Public TV channel in Tempe. I am pretty stoked about the whole thing and hope it all works out. It is a rare opportunity to totally screw it up in front of a pretty good sized audience. The last time I was on TV was a kid’s show called “Pops” a local Howdy Doody rip-off format show in Milwaukee. That was in the early sixties. I was a cub scout and television wasn’t very old. I think I said “hi”, so this next appearance is going to be a bit more substantial, and in color. Good news for “American Idol”, come October it will no longer be the crappiest TV show in history.

Mummy: I will try. It may be pretty comical, it has been awhile since I have been in front of an audience.

Keshi: You will probably be able to see the flames from where you live. I asked the host if she wanted me to bring my own fire extinguisher and she thought I was kidding.

I don't watch TV anymore. Most of the times I just can't believe what I see there. Stupid shows everywhere.
So I prefer a good book, go outside or just sit there and think ;)

Congrats! I hope it goes well! So many things could go wrong while on stage, just planting seeds of doubt, lol.

What I would give to be able to see this! Have you decided what you're going to cook?

nanuk: Knives and fire! This will not be for the faint of heart.

Keshi: You've never seen me cook... Actually I have yet to start a fire, I have cut myself a few times but no major disasters.

DM: You are in luck; they are printing the recipe in their cookbook

Becky: I'll actually be cooking the dish at home and bringing several elements of the dish at various stages of completion, so through the magic of TV it will appear as though i cooked it at the studio. Just a sham, like the moon landings, really.

Chickie: I will be cooking fish. I usually throw it on the grill, but this time I'll have to deal with an oven, so that will be exciting.

Cool, but I hope you will post some pics of the show in your blog! What will you cook then?

My only time in TV was in my childhood when a bike race (Tour de Suisse) came to my hometown. I was pretty scared and said something like "a really good day, with a really good race, really good, really...". you see, not much of a TV-Star lol

Use your 15 minutes of fame wisely. Watch a few of these shows before you go and try not to say the same stuff everyone else does. Inject some of the good old phosisopholy into it. Oh yeah, and definitely mention blogspot. That should be fun.

We really should think of something crazy for V to do while he is on the show. Like crop dust the host or something.

DM: Thanks!

FS: I will try to keep things interesting

Katy: I will certainly mention Blogger. Never seen Utube…

Jin: Hi! Have to try to work your cake in some how…

Lush: Thanks for dropping by!!

Tanushree: I enjoy cooking. Check out the link on the sidebar to FoodCrazee…

Gnat: I think the smell from the fish will be bad enough. I usually grill the fish outside, but I don’t think I will have that option here.

AFTM: Howdy!

EC: Tough to talk with the ol’ mask on, I suppose I will have to remove it for this affair.
