A Few Questions

Are you truly free if you depend on the government for food, money, shelter, and medical care?

Are you free if the government can monitor your communications, search your car “for their safety?”

Are you really free if laws are in place to keep you from carrying a gun?

Are you really free if the government can raid your retirement or wages you’ve worked hard for and use it to finance those who haven’t?

Is outlawing drugs, tossing offenders in jail, and interdiction the best way to stop drug crime and gangs?

Is a fence along the border the best way to stop illegal immigration?

--> That's why I don't collect government money of any kind, despite the fact that my clinical diagnosis could easily qualify me for disability. I've never not worked.

Are you free if the government can monitor your communications, search your car “for their safety?”
Nope. and that's one of the many reasons I think GWB needs to be tried for treason

Are you really free if laws are in place to keep you from carrying a gun?
Nope. And that's why I loathe the many liberal politicians that like gun-toting thugs better than citizens.

Are you really free if the government can raid your retirement or wages you’ve worked hard for and use it to finance those who haven’t?
I worry about that one a lot. Bush thought it would be awesome to put our retirement funds into the stock market.

marijuana should be legal. Dope dealers who sell heroin and cocaine should be shot.

Is a fence along the border the best way to stop illegal immigration?
I'd rather we use land mines and laser turrets.

**Are you truly free if you depend on the government for food, money, shelter, and medical care?

no we dun DEPEND on the govt for food, shelter and care. We do WORK and PAY to get em dun we? We pay taxes. for ppl who sit at home and get em all free, yeah they r the ones who arent totally free...cos they r bludging, unless ofcourse they hv a valid reason not work!

**Are you free if the government can monitor your communications, search your car “for their safety?”

I dun call it a harassment. if the need arises, they hv every right to do so. If Im not in the wrong, I hv no reason to refuse either.

**Are you really free if laws are in place to keep you from carrying a gun?

yes Im free. I dun need a gun when I hv a HEAD.

**Are you really free if the government can raid your retirement or wages you’ve worked hard for and use it to finance those who haven’t?

This has nothing to do with freedom...it may be unfair, yes I agree.

**Is outlawing drugs, tossing offenders in jail, and interdiction the best way to stop drug crime and gangs?

not the best ways but they sure are deterrants.

**Is a fence along the border the best way to stop illegal immigration?

no but it sure does make ppl think twice :)

Hmmm.... Hey Phos, how come folks answer your questions, but not mine?

Oh wait. I first have to ask something, don't I?

You are absolutely right! I am in realization of my lack of freedom! We are slaves to the government.

All these questions have self evident answers. I am not in favour of the government taking a big brother approach to the life of the common man. But Ah! The common man makes such an easy hiding spot for the nefarious elements. Damned if u agree, damned if u dont.

The answer to questions One and Four is a declarative NO. The answer to questions Two and Three is POSSIBLY. Those things in and of themselves wouldn't be enough to declare that freedom is absent.

Five and Six are strawman questions and piss me off.

I am rejoicing for the enormity of the events today.

The inaugural speech was spectacular. We have chosen the right man.

'is it freedom' is such an odd concept.
Some are more free than others within the same system.
The VP was free to shoot his friend in the face.
Bush junior was free to murder over four thousand of this nation's children.

If you get caught in Texas with an ounce of pot, they can put you in jail for life.

So, what's your point, Phos? We do our part to help however we can.

Here, like this....
back in the sixties (maybe seventies) East Germany got into the habit of using part of the buffer zone between them and West Berlin as a garbage dump.
One day, the Mayor of West Berlin gathered a bunch of folks together with roses and they went and threw them on the garbage.
Huge signs and loud speakers gave the message....
"You give what you can"

So, freedom?
Not as important as the folks around you.

I know that in each of the situations there is a lot of nuance but the first and immediate answer is NO we aren't free we can wokr the details out.
