Yep, Still Here

Sorry about the lack of postage lately, I have been filling out applications, forwarding resumes, and talking with folks in order to find some sort of honest work. I don't want to have to break out my Grandma's favorite Meth recipe in order to make a living - the secret was a dash of cinnamon, in case you were wondering.

Went to the Arizona Workforce Office and was amazed at how many Obamabucks are being thrown into creating a huge intricate gov't bureaucracy. They route you through as many people as possible so each worker can count you as being served on their report. So far I've seen a lot of flapping lips but no job or cash.

Still waiting to hear back from Troops to Teachers, probably better call them today. I am still confused as to how they can help me since they don't place anyone, don't seem to fund anyone, and I still have to figure a way to become certified. Not only that but I think I have to be certified to teach geography or social studies as well. All that course work will be interesting in that I haven't been feeling very clever lately.

Meanwhile I am playing Mr. Mom to two huskies. Great job so far!!!

You know, here in Portugal, when was the election of Obama the left and right fill the news - after few months all ended saying crap on the fact of him choosing a portuguese dog! A good metaphor for a pure cosmetic president...

Cheers!

That's interesting.
Do you suppose he went back in time (saay to 1981?) and had the same effect there?
Because that's what was around then, and we're talking about Indianapolis...not some sandy beach in the middle of the Arizona desert.

Phos...you can be mad that your man McCain didn't win, but, that won't improve your job search OR your attitude.
If you're using the computer to look for work and still can't find any, then I have to ask...are your parameters too thin?

Can I help? I have a great program that I would turn on to a vet any day of the week, month, or year, no questions asked.

Him Phos, we're also still around, even though there's not that much happening on my blogs... that's because so much is happening in real life that I can't keep up! and since you're asking: it bloody fucking cold here, feel like comming down to your place and cuddle up to a caktus...

I really don't get it, just came back from the far north, just a few miles south of the polar circle and it was really hot up there (well, ehen the sun was out...) but here... brrrr! it's always cold and windy, since DK basically only consists of islands...

Anyway, I really understand how you feel re the unemployment crap and burocrathy - my absolute favorite!
My husband has also had problems getting a job, but due to some corruption and we really had to fight our way through this. scandinavia mayy be known for lots of socialist BS, but in reality it leads absolutely nowhere and you have zip protection when it comes down to it. So we've always been living on the edge in more than one way and in terms of unemployment it was simply: get a job or starve to death and loose your home. So he always managed to have a job, but his career as a manager was over, once he became the victim of some corruption.
Today he works as - can you guess? Yes! a teacher and it has worked out well. he has been offered a management position again, but refused to take it, since he doesn't think he's got job security there. That teacher job seems to be just fine and everybody is happy even though it's far below his abilities and qualifications. but WTF! he just spents his eccess energy on our company, our projects and his books - yes, he's a writer, too!

But I tell you, there reaslly is a problem these days getting some discipline into those kids, I've been teaching as well and boy you'd never believe any of those stories, what these kids have been up to...!

Good luck to you and there is something out there that is right for you, you just have to find it... you know endurance and keeping at it, no matter how much BS and crap they throw at you!

I'm glad you're still around! :)

I haven't found Obama's stimulus package all that stimulating so far. It sorta seems like he blew $1.5 trillion in borrowed money and doesn't have anything to show for it.

have you looked into lateral entry?
i don't know if arizona does it.
but, n.c. has done it. with lateral entry you have to have a bachelors and while you are teaching you have a few years to become certified in the area you teach.
