Happy Constitution Day

This celebrates when the US dumped the Articles of Confederation and adopted a document that unified 13 squabbling states into a unified country, established a bicameral government with an executive and judiciary branch providing a system of checks and balances.

Now wouldr be a good time for Americans to reread the document produced by our founding fathers and our government to return to the wisdom of those constitutional authors.

Happy Consitution Day to you too.

Have you seen the video series about John Adams? It was extremely well done. If you haven't check it out.

As for checks and balances, I couldn't resist the following:

The checks in the mail and my account won't balance.

Sadly there may be more truth than fiction to that phrase when it is applied to our government.

Aha! Constitution Day. That (probably) explains all the F13s flying around a nearby airforce base yesterday.

And here I thought they were on their way to bomb the NY Stock Exchange for shitty performance! (O_O)

The intent of that document was to avoid another monarchy, to spread power among the states and give people a voice. It is still as relevant as the day it was approved, but has been ignored or twisted to suit the wealthy, big business, and the very people who are supposed to represent us. It was supposed to make our country a model for the rest of the world, unfortunately somewhere along the line our government decided to force our ideals on other nations rather than just providing a good example - another thing we have failed miserably at, showing the rest of the world greed and a quest for power.
