Chili Weather

Time to prep for the big chili cook-off on Friday. I am smoking the tri-tip roast tonight, after leaving it smothered in Chipotle puree overnight. That will be cut up and added to the regular chili- I am also preparing one pot of vegetarian chili, just for grins. I'll cook it tomorrow night so it has time to meld a bit before Friday. I still have to pick up some habanera peppers to add a little heat for the back of the throat, but everything else is pretty much ready to go.

Well, I didn't win the cookoff, but the pot was emptied pretty fast and I got a lot of compliments, so I am pretty happy with that. Looks as if this will be an annual event so it gives me something to shoot for next year...

Did you have corn muffins with your chili?

Peppers make the world go 'round!! No muffins, but that does sound pretty good!!!

I desperately need to avoid any Bell Peppers, but strangely enough, hot peppers I'm fine with.

My dad claims that if you put pineapples in your chili, you can produce Hawaiian "music".

LMAO!

You inspired me Phos and I went ahead and made a white chili yesterday..and it was divine...lots of leftovers too. YUM!

I get Tejano music out of my chili. White chili sounds interesting - you have to be careful when tinkering however. Add beans to chili in Texas and that's cause enough for them to hang you from the nearest tree...
