Bits n' Bobs

The Korean community is worried about backlash over the V-Tech killing spree. I don’t see any problem – Koreans didn’t kill the students, a lunatic who happened to be of Korean descent killed the students. To blame all Koreans for the murders would be like blaming all Scots for bagpipe music. Of course, in this country anything is possible.

Really windy here and looks to be so for the next day or two. I hoped it was a foreshadowing of storms to come, but the Wx radar looks pretty blank off to our West. It is tough taking pictures on two types of days. The first is a really still day where the gunk that puts the “smudge” in “Valley of the Smudge” accumulates to the point where it is like trying to take a picture through a glass full of weak iced tea. The other day that is not conducive to picture taking is a windy day. The wind kicks up a lot of dust and really restricts the visibility.

I’m looking forward to a quiet evening. Yukon will let me know when it is time for his dinner, ‘Strella Dog’s medicine (we use peanut butter to get her to take the pill and Yukon gets to lick the spoon), our dinner, and Jalapeño popcorn. You can’t get him to sit, stay, or fetch, but have jalapeño popcorn two nights in arrow and now it is part of the routine. Dog experts say Malamutants are food driven and they are correct.

Pretty dog.

The neatest trick is when they catch popcorn in their mouth.

My dog won't do anything else intersting.

Wish I could have a dog like that, but in Florida I consider it almost like punishment and cruel.

They really are not happy down here in this heat and they are not happy being inside 24/7.

Maybe I will get a sheperd or a dane....one day.

LL: You have to love them because they have sharp fangs and they will bite you if you don’t. Both of our dogs are incredibly needy and have all our visitors convinced we don’t pay an attention to the poor pups. It is just a ploy to get more love.
fuff: Loverly??
hammer: They get lucky once-in-awhile and actually catch one, but usually it bounces off their snout and then there’s a mad scramble to find it before the other dog does…
DAK: Yes they have – Austrella is the brains of the outfit.

Keshi: I won’t tell him that – his head is already big enough!
Kirsten: I’ve been through some sandstorms in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia so my heart goes out to you. The sand gets into everything.
jin: Thanks! He almost looks smart in that picture.

Gnat: Well we have them in AZ with no ill effects so far. We leave the A/C on for them during the day and have a dog-door so they can come and go as they please (the yard is walled – we don’t want them going that far!). Yukon even has his own fan to lie in front of. We just make sure the pups have plenty of water and only walk them at night when the sidewalk has had time to cool down. If it gets really hot Yukon kips out in the bathtub.

SL: Italians and their frikkin’ Accordion music! Push-a-push-a da Broom”

LL: They won’t leave you alone until you do…

As for blame......society perhaps?

ec: Huskies would kill for jalapeño popcorn.

kd: I think the problem is no one takes responsibility for their actions and some of the younger set haven't been taught that fame and fortune aren't just going to fall into their lap.
