I wonder if someone in India has trouble with their computer and calls the help desk, does he get an American?

I got a phone call last week from a telemarketer from Crapistan...or some other subcontinent...anyway, the guy goes on for a few minutes about selling me consulting services to increase my web site's traffic.

Him: "blah,blah...so, can we send you more information?"

Me: "No."

Him: "Ummm (He actually said that) can I ask you why you wouldn't want to utilize our service."

Me: "Because I don't have a web site that requires your service. And, I don't want anymore American jobs to go to people who worship rats."

Him: "I don't worship rats."

Me: "You like cows though, right?"

Him: "Goodbye."

Ha! Not quite....

Can you imagine how much that would cost those poor people?

Funny post, PK. We get a lot of that over here too. I don't mind Indian people getting the jobs, but I do mind if they're not British Indians. It saps the life out of your economy.

Having said that, taking a longer view, how is the world going to progress if we don't allow developing countries to skill themselves up? I think most of these call centre bods are young graduates who can earn (for them) serious money doing this. From their perspective, they'd be mad not to.

It's a difficult one.
