LL is right & phos is right & i think i'm right in suggesting your car is a 1958 ford thunderbird (not sure about that grill) -- they just don't make 'em like this now...
Not that it has a whole lot to do with the bail-out, but, I rather liked this particular car. My Aunt Gert, however, was just itching to buy a Bonneville, because way back then, they were the Vette of American cars. (57, I think) None-the-less, she howled when they changed the design, and though she always wanted something sporty, all she ever bought were Pontiacs.
Designs would sell cars, no doubt, but only because they don't help the actual car. Vettes, for example, had a worse drag coefficiencey than some vans. The Taurus, as plain as it was, is actually a great design, but....where has it gone? Even more drastic sxample of how aerodynamic design doesn't cut the mustard, Tesla vs. Tango ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwiS4t8TMlI )
I mean, what the heck. If they can't go 200 MPH anyway, what's wrong with a few wings? Or, for that matter, a sail?
Hey Pho Kid, You don't like all the designed by wind tunnel data looks? Good! I think we have not only sacrificed the intention from the 80's to design more fuel efficient transport with lessened emissions, we sacrificed design to this polyglot of ugly cars which have met no goals and minimum needs. The big 3 claim Americans REFUSE to buy more efficient cars....I say if they had offered some DESIGN to go with efficiency we wouldn't be hocking our future to bail out the non performing, misdirected, greedy three!

Exactly. And giving them a bail out isn't going to help. It will just get us deeper into debt.
If people cannot afford a car now, what is a bail out going to do? Absolutely nothing! You still cannot afford to buy a car.
You're going to still have to lay off workers if the money isn't coming in.
Now you did it, you got me started.
But that's all I have to say, for now.
