'tis the Time of the Season

I stopped by Boney’s site to check out his new political bent and was glad to see he has picked a candidate. As I stated on his comments section it is one of the few privileges left to us, if only just barely. For instance here in AZ the parties have effectively taken your vote in the primaries away if you are an independent.
I am tempted to go on a long political rant, however I shall refrain. Do yourself a favor and read a copy of “Revolution” by Ron Paul. I know, it is an election year “look at me” book but he transcends the BS and makes valid points on the state of the state. If you aren’t thoroughly incensed by the time you have finished the book, please settle back on your couch, open another warm Budweiser, and get back to your NASCAR race…
If you live outside the US it pays to watch your governments closely. Are they representing your best interests? Are the people disenfranchised? Is there a group of people that have been cast aside in the political process? The US has these maladies as does every country on the face of the earth and perhaps it is time to become concerned about the problem.

Uhmmm. Saying Boney just picked a candidate is like saying I just now decided I like breathing. And beer. Boney's mind has been closed to new ideas for decades.

here in nc independents could vote in the primaries.
the independent ballot, however, did not have the presidential candidates on it. i had to choose a republican or democrat ballot to be able to cast a vote for a presidential candidate. however, this is the first time that i've had a choice like that.

ps: and hoodwinked is putting it rather mildly..

Phos, I take it that means you like my idea of a running mate for Obama?
Ron Paul has a lot of great ideas...and tosses out interesting news, too. Learned a lot from him over just the last few months.

Really glad I have the ability to learn new things.
Some don't seem to have that same ability, and I don't know why.
Did I hear Bogs say "republicants"
yeah....that might be it.

Something like a dam and a rep in office together sounds like atart to the independant party rising up after all.
I hate the two party system
It either polarizes the nation or makes government a steamroller.

Used to be the winner of the vote became president and the runner up became VP.
I am not for any of the current candidates. It amazes me that with all the great minds in America, the scientists, doctors, philosophers, and artists that the best either party can come up with is a Chicago political hack and an old codger whose main accomplishment was to be a POW in an undeclared war.
Both represent business as usual despite the "change" signs taped to their podiums. The only change we will see with them is a different set of hands in the till. The US needs someone that will give the government back to "We the people," transfer most of the power from the federal government to the states, and give us all back our rights. It is time for another revolution, albeit a peaceful one - I am not advocating an armed uprising or anything of the kind.

The Brits burned down our capitol once (we had it coming because we burned the Canadian one first) but we should have left it in ashes and moved on.

Good post Phos.

Unfortunately with these two candidates things will stay as they are. I think it's an illusion to hope with a president like Obama there will be 'change'.

It's a good point to try to watch each government closely! Also here in Switzerland we have many who not drink what they pray...
At least we have a special right to 'veto' new laws that we don't want. But it's getting harder and the loosing of individual rights goes on. For example: since about 2 years we need a 'biometric passport' to travel to the USA. No problem, if you don't want such a passport, the only effort is not travelling to the USA. But now they try to file everyone and the biometric passport soon will be the only one. Even if you stay here in Europe.

The target is total control.
