Phos's Day Out
I finally went to visit the Heard Museum out in Surprise , AZ. It is a small branch of the main museum downtown and features relics and artwork from the local Indian tribes. It was very interesting and I was really impressed by some of the silver work as well as the bead work and basketry. The pottery is gorgeous as well. They had some modern examples at the gift shop, but they were far out of my price range and with 85 pounds of clumsy husky charging around the house, delicate works of art are not a good idea.
I stopped at the "lake" next to the library. It is a nice diversion for the city folk, you can fish, though the fish are strictly put and take, but in these parts there aren't a lot of options. There is even an "Urban Fishing License". I didn't fish, but did snap a few pictures. It was a beautiful day for being out a bit.
It wasn't all fun and games. I had to pick up some husky chow for the kids and some beta chow for Fred the fish. You don't let an animals with half inch fangs get too hungry, and Fred is no slouch when it comes to nabbing food pellets off the surface either. I wouldn't stick anything in that tank I wanted to keep!!
Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!!!

Wow. It looks like a hot day in the desert!
I'd take photography over fishing any day.
fuff: Only 104 today! We are supposed to get a storm so things may cool down a bit.
sl: Good call - no fish smell on your hands.
It's nice to get out every so often.
Beautiful museum in a beautiful setting.
pretty lake picture but it needs more greenery
nice

thinkin' on them fanged fish o' yours...

Fish scare me, think about it. Whole life in a 10 inch glass jar. Jetting around in circles with nothing to do but wait for that one moment, that one second, that one time you put your finger in the water. Then WAMO!
Trust me they live for that shit.
Gnat.
.
yep...
gnat 'nine fingers'
knows all about this stuff, phos

Freddy the Fish is crazed. I have fished for Northern Pike and they don't seem half as aggressive as he does. Of course with Freddy it is mostly bluff. He'll puff his gill covers out to make himself look like a big fish. Mostly he lurks in the dark recesses of the skull in his tank.
Lakes out here rarely have, any plants or trees around them. It just gets way too hot for most trees and the natural trees out here such as Palo Verde and Mesquite actually prefer things a bit more on the dry side.
It was cooler today, only in the high 90s -fairly cloudy. There was hope of some rain, but we didn't get any on this side of town. It is still early for Monsoons, those should come the end of June beginning of July and run through September. It is hard to say if we'll get any moisture out of them or not, sometimes we just get hellacious dust storms.
Very beautiful pics as usual.
Keshi.
Our beta will let Sweety pet him. I think that it's weird that Sweety wants to pet it. Ick.
