Undecided Decider
He stood
As tall as he could
And proclaimed himself
The Decider
Whilst astride her
And sent our young off
To punish the unwashed
Devils that broke our buildings
The young went willingly
At first
And died as they fought
To free a people with no idea of freedom
The Decider deluded himself
And us
With the thought everyone
Wants Wal-Mart
And Cadillacs
But some folks
Want their shackles
And are happy in the glory
Of some unseen deity
Aren’t interested in
A blonde blue-eyed Jesus
Nailed to a piece of wood
And hung on a bedroom wall
He died to save us
We have crucified our young to
Save the unwilling
And die they have
The Decider’s hands run with blood
Our hands dip in the blood and glory
In the carnage
Because we decided
And they decided
And he decided
And the zealots decided
And the new crusade
And the old Jihad
Meet again to free Jerusalem
To repaint the Wailing Wall and free Babylon
So we can hang the gardens again
But instead we hung the leader
And his cronies
More blood, more lives lost
For a lost cause
And where are the gods we fight for
why do they not reached down and support us
Or smite us
When will they decided
Or are we once again deluded
And worship figures in Botticelli paintings
Or one who will not be depicted
In Danish cartoons
Where will it end
Will it ever end
Who will decide it is over
Will the Decider decide
Or fade off into a Texas sunset
To chop wood and write memoirs
The veil is drawn
The killing goes on
And the decider is still astride her
Churning his hips in futility

Well said, and I do believe they don't want freedom, except it seems the US has to show it's no longer a paper tiger. Otherwise we will continue to have 9/11's
oh...wow...yes, yes....YES!!!!
Phos, that was amazing..
Well said and well written.
Iraq has had civilization for 3000 years.
beauty, phos
this reminds me of
a jackson browne song,
" lives in the balance "
they sell us the president the same way
they sell us our clothes and our cars
they sell us every thing from youth to religion
the same time they sell us our wars
i want to know who the men in the shadows are
i want to hear somebody asking them why
they can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
but theyre never the ones to fight or to die
and there are lives in the balance
there are people under fire
there are children at the cannons
and there is blood on the wire
- j.browne, 1986
a different war, but the more things change...
/t.
hammer: Right. We don't need them we can make our own 9/11, such as Waco and the Federal building in Oklahoma City. As far as the terrorists following us home, 9/11 proved that they are already here.
leelee: Thanks!
sj: And it fell hard
/t.: The presidential race is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Why would anyone toss millions of dollars at a job that only nets him or her a couple hundred thou a year. Makes me mighty suspicious. The other problem is when you elect someone you automatically inherit his drinking buddies, biggest contributers, and a cast of incompetents like "Brownie".
Phos, that was brilliant! I never decided. In fact, the day after the first election, I felt sick to my stomach. Worse after the second. What is wrong with the American people? He never had my vote and in fact, he is not "my" president. You're right. He'll go sit on some ranch in Texas (where he belongs) and write a book (or rather someone will write it for him because he's too stupid to write it himself) and idiots everywhere will buy it and read it.
Sorry. I don't usually voice my frustration of political issues on here but you inspired it with this post.
phos!
That was superbly written!
Wow!!!
Thanks!!
