I have mixed feeling about polar bears. I think they're beautiful creatures, yet saw a daddy bear eat his cub on National Geographic channel, I guess they do that when they're hungry.

Jin: It is extremely rare for a male polar bear to ever meet up with its offspring - the female spends many months in a snow den without eating and actually absorbing her own feces back into her system. And the Daddy ain't lingering around the den waiting to see the cubs. So what I think you saw was an opportunistic killing of an immature bear by a full-grown male.

BTW - Phosgene, my avatar's numbers are dropping substantially - lay off. I know people who have hunted polar bears by dog sled and when they get closer to the bear they cut the traces one by one to encircle the bear. Bears HATE dogs - the arctic canines are the onoly thing that challenges their dominance save a 303.

My final word to all on the subject - as long as the animal is killed humanely and the flesh eaten, I guess the busbies of the Queen are acceptable.

Nanuk: Lay off? I ain't the one makin' hats out of 'em. From what I understand the icepack is rapidly disappearing and that might be a bigger problem for them in the long run. I think killing off predators is a big mistake, no matter how it is done. Sorry I struck a nerve.

Jin: I wish the kennedy family and the bush family would eat their own cubs.

Keshi: Yup killing is definetly against the rules, especially for erstwhile religious folks - it is actually listed in the book, and I didn't see any clauses or exceptions.
