A-10s for Indigo
Had a couple of A-10s drop by, remembered Indigo likes them so thought I'd post the picture I took. Beautiful day today, not terribly hot (for here), and just downright nice. It is getting dark earlier so we are sliding out of summer and into "Snowbird" season, when all the Yankees invade our state in the M-50 Urban Assault vehicles trying to escape winter. Nothing more frightening than an 80 year old behind the wheel of a Winnebago.

I know exactly what you mean about the snowbirds.
Nice picture btw!
Thanks Phos! :)
Y'know... I lived in Mariette (GA) once and there was an Air Force base only a couple of miles away. It was great seeing fighter jets swoosh by all the time!
I'm glad the A10 wasn't retired as planned. I love the unique sound of those engines as they fly over.
those indeed are cool planes ..
and we have the revers of the snowbirders here ..
they're called parttimers and hail from little lamb's way .. :) . they escape the heat of the summer in our nc mountains. nothing like a 80 year old who can't drive a curvy mountain road.
They really are nice looking Birds... haven't I said this before?
Either way, it appears you've got the hardware to take down the Republic.
Great photo.
I agree that the mere thought of an 80 year old at the wheel of a Winny is frightening. Then I think, "when do I give up my driver's license? After all I just bought a new car that could very well outlast me." Hmmm.
nothing
better than
an 80 year old
from arizona driving
a flock of florida lambs
through the north carolina mountains
in bbq season
/t.
You desert dwellers call your snowbird's "yankees"? Didn't know that.
LL; Can't understand why them damn Yankees can't stay up North where they belong. Thanks for the compliment, I like your photos as well.
indigo: They usually only stop here when they break. They are stationed at D-M in Tucson
hammer: I love watching them take apart a tank with their gun.
foam: You take care, some pretty nasty Wx headed your way!!
gt3: They make tanks obsolete weapons. They can destroy one with their GAU-8 gun alone.
/t.: Nothing like a good old Carolina lamb roast!!
Troll: I call them that and just as soon they stay on their side of the Mason-Dixon line. There was actually a civil war battle at Picacho Peak just south of here where a squad of our boys whupped up on a whole troop of Yanks.
JK: The way people drive out here I am ready to give up the keys now. My favorite, though, was seeing a guy with a walker finally make it to the car, fold up the walker and then drive away. Licenses don't expire for a long time out here so you could literally drive yourself to your own funeral.
My daughter lives in Tucson, and complains bitterly about those snowbirds. I think AZ is a lovely place, but I don't think I could ever give up my Colorado winters (or my Colorado kitchen)!!
JJ: I'm originally from WI, spent time in SD, and Germany. If I never see snow again it'll be too soon. It does get roaring hot down here, but I don't have to shovel that!!
Holy broiled icing, Kid! I have a recipe for "Lazy Daisy Cake" that came from my grandmother! Want it?

i LOVE those birds, and i love the way u picture them here...
JJ: I'd love it! You can send it to phosgene4kids@gmail.com
A-L: Singing is probably a better way to go...
hdwk: Been around different kinds of planes for a good part of my life, but the F-4 will always have a place in my heart.
I was just saying the other day that people should be made to get special licenses to drive those big RV's.
