pink: I use a 28-150mm lens on a Rebel XT. It seems to be a good all around lens.

/t.: Thanks for the words! We're already in the high 80s and low 90's. It is going to be a long hot summer I think.

indigo: If you like cacti you'd love it out here. There are lots of them.

Damsel: The cholla is a nasty customer, I give them wide berth.

ll: Odd how such a prickly plant can have such pretty flowers...

foam: Getting stuck hurts, pulling the spines out later is even worse.

is this that "jumping cactus"?
Fella from Sonoma has a "jumper" though I don't know what its real name is.

It DOES jump, though. Or at least, seems to jump. Well, I don't mean up and down out'a the ground....

More like it throws little parts of itself on ya.
Sharp?
YOU BET!

boneman: The Cholla is sometimes called the "jumping cactus" The branches are very springy and if you brush one it snaps back and can leave lots and lots of sharp golden needles embedded in your flesh.
